I am not, as a rule, against luxury items. You really do get what you pay for - well, in most cases. But sometimes, I am baffled by some of the shiz people try and convince us to buy.

For example, I present to you the "illustrated dress pen" from Lanvin, sold for a cool $90 USD.

Apparently, its winning feature is that it's decorated with a pattern by designer Alber Elbaz.

Well La Dee Dah.

Other than that, it is "silver-toned" (not a trace of real silver) and it's a ballpoint pen.

That's it.

A BALL. POINT. PEN. For $90.

I know I'm a little late on the uptake with this tidbit of news, but just saw this ESSA dress listed at Net-a-Porter and I'm trying to figure out if Kate' wearing of it was a hit or a miss.
I, for one, think she looks lovely, though it's hard to look less-than-lovely when you have genes like that. My mum, however, thought the dress made her look "old and dowdy" and didn't like it AT ALL.

It must be tough when everyone has an opinion about everything you wear and everything you do, but then again she's going to live in a castle. I just can't bring myself to feel sorry for her.

So peeps, what do we think? Hit or miss?

Okay, these kinds of shenanigans just piss me off.

Can't we all just agree that heels are heels - they are uncomfortable, bad for our feet and look really hot.

Birkenstocks are Birkenstocks - they're kind of ugly (they are people - who are you kidding) really comfortable and not super hot.

Why do we have to pretend like Birkenstocks can be sexy? Or that heels can be comfortable?

Stop with the charade Stella. Please.

These are probably super uncomfortable and they're definitely NOT sexy.

Cork and faux-leather sandals = Double Fail.

Remember that episode of Seinfeld when Elaine buys her braless friend Sue Ellen Mischke a bra for her birthday and Sue Ellen decides to wear it as a top -- in public? Do you also remember that Jerry and Kramer crash George's car after getting distracted by her in the street? And that Mr. Peterman sees her too and asks Elaine to write copy for a new bra-top for the J. Peterman catalogue? The Gatsby swing top? Remember?

Here's a little refresher:

I don't know what I'm more horrifed by, the Gatsby swing tops on these ladies, or the fact that they've clearly never watched this episode of Seinfeld.

Also, where in God's name am I supposed to wear something like this? Work? Um. I think not. Meeting? "Sorry, What were you saying?". Drinks? I guess, if you don't want to spend any of your own money.

Thanks fashion designers, for always thinking about the little people. It must be such a chore to design garments for the plebs, what with our small budgets and stringent views on the "under" part of underwear.
